Landing Black fin tuna





• Prefers the warmer waters of the Western Atlantic
• Large schools have been found around Cuba
• Is the smallest of the tuna varieties
• Cuban anglers use poles and bait to land this tuna
• Trolling at boat speeds of 6-8 knots is recommended
• Live or dead bait effective using ballyhoo, squid and small whitebait
• Are often caught by mistake when anglers are seeking larger tuna
• When trolling, the following lures have been successful – squid lures, skirted resin head lures, small feather lures and silver spinners and spoons
